Eligibility Criteria To Join Indian Air Force

Flying Branch
  • Marital Status : Unmarried (excludes widower and divorcee even though without encumbrances)
  • Age : Between 20 to 24 years at the time of starting of the course For candidates holding a valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued by Director General Civil Aviation (DGCA) the upper age limit has been relaxed to 26 years
  • Physical :Minimum Height of 162.5 cms (5.33 ft) with corresponding weight
  • Eye Sight : Minimum Vision of 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other eye
  • Educational Qualification : Minimum score of 60% in both Mathematics & Physics in 12th grade

    Minimum score of 60% for Graduates in any discipline from any recognized University OR BE/B/Tech (4 year course) with a minimum score of 60% from any recognized University

    Should have cleared section A & B examination conducted by Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India

    Students from Final Year are also eligible to apply, provided, they do not have any backlog at the time of AFSB (Air Force Selection Board) Testing and are able to produce the required Degrees Certificates as per the stipulated dates
Technical Branch
  • Marital Status : Unmarried (excludes widower and divorcee even though without encumbrances)
  • Age : Between 20 to 26 years at the time of starting of the course
  • Physical :
    • Men: Minimum height of 157.5 cms (5.16 ft) with corresponding weight
    • Women: Minimum height of 152 cms (4.98 ft) with corresponding weight
  • Educational Qualification :
    • Minimum score of 60% for Graduates in any discipline from any recognized University OR BE/B/Tech (4 year course) with a minimum score of 60% from any recognized University
    • Should have cleared section A & B examination conducted by Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India

Ground Duty Branch

    • Admin & Logistics: Minimum score of 60% for Graduates in any discipline from any recognized University OR Should have cleared section A & B examination conducted by Membership of Institute Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India
    • Accounts: Minimum score of 60% in B.Com (3 years)
    • Education: Minimum score of 60% in Graduation along with minimum score of 50% on an aggregate in Post Graduation (2 years)

AFCAT Exam Pattern for Non-Technical Branch

The Indian Air Force AFCAT written examination will last for 120 minutes. For every correct answer, candidates will be awarded 3 marks, whereas each incorrect answer will be losing 1 of the allotted marks, i.e. 1 marks. However, there are no deductions for unanswered questions.

AFCAT Exam Pattern for EKT (only for technical)
