Eligibility Guidelines

  • Allegiance : The competitor is only validated if he is the resident of India or Bhutan or Nepal or Tibetan who came over to India before 1962 to permanently settle in India and owns an eligibility certificate declared by the government of India.
  • Age Limit : The age limit is between 19 years to 24 and a half years and should be unmarried.
  • Educational Qualification : A graduation from a recognized university is required for Indian Military Academy and Officers’ Training Academy. Degrees from a distinguished university with expertise in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 pattern either Bachelor of Engineering for Air Force Academy. Candidate pursuing the final year of their course can also apply, or pursuing other degree examination are also eligible to compete. Such candidates will be required to present the documentation of passing the essential qualifying examination by a date to be specified in the Commission’s Notice.

Selection Method for CDS Examination

  • The CDS conducts a written examination. This exam can get candidates into the Indian Military, Indian Naval or Indian Air Force Academy. The candidates are decided on their English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics.
  • Further, the candidates who will qualify the CDS written examination as per the CDS Selection Procedure will be invited for the SSB interview tests.

SSB Interview

  • This is developed for the Intelligence and Personality test at the Service Selection Board based on their decision by the respective service after the written exam.
  • It is a two-level selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test has been introduced at Service Selection Boards.

Medical Examination

  • After clearing the written entrance exam, all successful candidates need to go for a comprehensive medical test after the SSB process.

Merit List

  • A final merit list is declared by UPSC depending on the number of seats available for the particular session after passing every level of examination.
